In the Kreuzviertel neighborhood of Münster, an elaborate facade renovation has significantly improved an apartment building built around the turn of the last century and the whole street.
The ground floor, originally clad with brick red facing tiles, has been reclaimed for the house and transformed masterfully into a holistic rendered facade concept. Instead of large-scale windows with unwelcoming shutters, high-quality, split windows were installed, which follow the round arch shape of existing window lintels.
The color scheme emphasizes the architectural qualities of the facade, subdivides it confidently and at the same time looks fresh and friendly. A lot of attention was paid to the important details: profiles, roof moldings, window reveals and decorative bands have been contrasted in subtle shades. This also adds further plasticity to the building design.
Together with the other elaborate renovation measures, it is clear that the transformation of the historic street facade has paid off: the result is worth the effort.
