Seniorenresidenz, Hengelo

The planning and execution of the facade design for the ´t Voskamp retirement home in Hengelo presented a very special challenge for the local painting company De Koning. As part of an "all-round renovation", the building was to be brought up to date in terms of both energy efficiency and appearance - without disturbing the residents with the work.

Adhesion Primer 3720 and Evocryl 200 were selected for the coating build-up. The Protect version of the facade paint was used, i.e. with a unique, systematic protection concept against algal and fungal infestation. "The pigmented primer offers exactly the properties that were required for the different stone and concrete substrates on this building. And Evocryl is simply unbeatably weather-resistant and extremely color-stable", explains Erik de Koning. "This was the only way we could achieve an optimally even and intensely colored surface, on which dirt cannot adhere in the first place."

To ensure that the result matched the architect´s design as closely as possible, the painting team carried out trial coats before work began. Brillux supported the work at every stage with technical expertise and helped to ensure that the applicable building regulations for the execution of painting work were met one hundred percent. Finally, the Brillux service ensured that all materials were delivered directly to the construction site on time whenever it was needed.

The fact that the residents could not be disturbed by the work and that the building had to remain freely accessible to visitors at all times presented the painting company with particular challenges in terms of construction site logistics. "We used special hydraulic lifting platforms with a virtually silent drive to minimize disturbance", says Erik de Koning. The project took almost a year to complete. Following extensive renovation, the ´t Voskamp retirement home is now an architectural gem.
