The Gesellschaft für Bauen und Wohnen Bottrop mbH carried out the renovation on its housing stock in the north of Bottrop in four stages. Six of the old buildings were torn down and replaced with modern, three-storey buildings with contemporary apartments and balconies. An appealing, vibrant color design sets the modern architecture in scene effectively, giving the entire district a completely new, attractive face. In all phases of the project, Brillux supported the architectural practice commissioned by the client with the planning and execution with a tailored all-round service – starting with creating service specifications and precise definition of the color design concept, the development of detailed solutions in the field of facade insulation, through to the constant supervision at the building site. A thermal insulating composite system (ETICS) not only provides optimal thermal insulation, but also offers perfect long-term protection for the facade. The top coat of an ETIC System opens up a wide range of options for attractive facade design. The new builds in the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Straße, Tourcoingstraße and Börenstraße in Bottrop were first given a decorative, weather-resistant top coat in the form of a scraped render finish with Mineral Lightweight Render 3622. The subsequent coating with Silicate Finish 1811 gave the facades the color shades defined in the color design concept. The window fields projecting by 2 cm were slightly beveled in the edge area and rendered with a smooth plaster to prevent waterlogging – with this technical solution, the design wish of the architect was implemented.
