With Silicone Facade Paint 918 to old villa charm
Location Velp
Execution Gert Gerritsen, Arnhem, Netherlands
Large window fronts, decorative wooden components, a brightly coated flat facing brick: A Dutch villa dream was made from these facade elements. However, external influences were increasingly affecting the building envelope in Velp near Arnhem. Painting contractor Gert Gerritsen worked with Brillux to develop the right color and product concept to meet the local requirements. The aim was to create a harmonious ensemble in shades of white, green and yellow.
The new coating should delay the risk of algae and fungal infestation in the nearby trees for a long time. At the same time, it has to withstand car exhaust fumes in the densely populated surroundings. Silicone Facade Paint 918 was chosen for painting the large facade surfaces – equipped with the Protect additive.
Today, the water-repellent and water-vapor permeable silicone resin-based exterior dispersion impresses with its low soiling tendency and reduces the risk of fungal and algae infestation. Gerritsen and his team applied the silicone facade paint in two stages. The coating was preceded by extensive cleaning and a coat of Silicone Priming Paint 917.
Gerritsen renovated the wooden components with Impredur High Gloss Enamel 840. The result: a high-gloss finish with color variations from dark green to dark yellow. Gerritsen sanded them down by machine and by hand. Transitions to newly installed elements were professionally sealed with Acrylic Sealing Compound 395.
Roof soffits, windows, door frames and other wooden components such as balcony railings: the system structure up to the final coating followed a clear concept. Gerritsen first primed the surface with Impredur Primer 835. When applying the second coating, he first applied a silk-gloss alkyd resin enamel with Impredur Venti Enamel 822 as an intermediate coat. Finally, the top coat of high-gloss paint was applied.
