Stylishly reviving history with Extrasil 1911
Location Ferlach, Austria
Builder Liland IT GmbH, Ferlach
Execution MALmir OG, Klagenfurt
Awakening the building's history from its slumber with mineral facade products: MALmir OG gave the building known as the "Alte Apotheke" (Old Pharmacy) in Ferlach, built in 1907, a fresh look based on a silicate system. Instead of a weathered yellow-brown combination, the new coating gives the current headquarters of Liland IT GmbH an aesthetic appearance.
Before the Klagenfurt painting company was awarded the contract for the facade renovation, it developed a suitable color concept together with Brillux. The visualization of the new exterior design was convincing. And not only that: the product concept also tipped the scales in favor of MALmir. The silicate paint Extrasil 1911 was the key product for the project.
The priming and repair of the surfaces with Fondosil 1903 and the filler Briplast Teriofill 1883 was followed by coating with Silicate Brush-On Filler 3639. Thanks to its fiber-reinforced formulation, it not only had a crack-filling effect, but also gave the plaster surfaces a new texture for better adhesion. The finish in two coats of Extrasil was applied in a stylish white/beige color combination.
The MALmir team made a visual statement with Lignodur FlexGuard in the moss green shade RAL 6005. Regardless of whether non-dimensionally stable or with limited dimensional stability: the highly weather-resistant dispersion paint is suitable for coating the framework as well as the balcony cladding and soffits.
Thanks to its elasticity, it can withstand weather-related changes in the shape of the old wooden components. A positive effect of the wood coating is that it prevents cracks from forming or the components from becoming brittle. Using the airless process, the painters spray coated all the components in two work steps. This was preceded by impregnation with Lignodur Contrabol Aqua 250 for preventive protection against blue stain fungi.
