Visual breaks are part of the concept at the Oldschool Hotel in Winterswijk. Stately on the outside, extravagantly charming on the inside. While the listed facade has retained its classic appearance, project manager Robertino Leusink has transformed the interior of the former school into a trendy place-to-be.
Robertino Leusink, owner of Aannemersbedrijf Leusink, developed the design concept together with Brillux. Various systems for different surfaces, long-lasting product quality and an elegant matt look gave the hotel its special appearance. Different dispersions and enamels were used depending on the area of application.
The defining wall surface made of steel panels, with coloring resembling a blue flame, became an eye-catcher in the entrance hall. Leusink and his team treated the surface with 2K-Aqua Silk Matt Enamel 2388 in transparent. The steel grid suspended above a 100-meter-long aquarium was also given a black silk matt paint finish. The painters coated the 20 door elements and frames with 2K-Aqua Matt Enamel 2390 to match.
With Superlux 3000, Leusink pushed for design diversity. Each hotel room was given its own color combination to match the individual school theme. Three coordinated tones transformed each room into an individual color palette. The Leusink team finished selected surfaces with the metallic effect paints Creativ Metallico 76 or Creativ Lucento 83, among others.
The contrast on the outside: With a subtle dark yellow and white coating, they created a classic facade appearance. To achieve this, the painters used Evocryl 200 in Protect quality in white. The ornamental columns were given a dark yellow tone. The painting team painted the metal window frames and wooden components with Impredur High Gloss Enamel 840 and Impredur Venti Enamel 822 in cream white and dark green respectively as a color accent. “The Oldschool Hotel stands for absolute creativity,” emphasizes Leusink. “The value of the colors and products basically jumps out at the hotel guests.”
