Lake Hörzendorf near St. Veit is popular among day-trippers and tourists. An inn and restaurant located directly on the lakeshore caters to visitors' culinary needs - and since its complete renovation and reopening, it has become the new focal point of the lake. The company of master painter Patrick Kohla from Hörzendorf was commissioned with the extensive redesign of the facade as well as the restaurants' interior and exterior.
The renovation of the two-and-a-half-story building was a major challenge, says Patrick Kohla: "There was a lot of wood that needed to be painted. We also needed products for the outdoor areas that we could be sure would work well in the weather conditions here." Because although there is a lot of sunshine at the lake, it is also very often foggy. In consultation with the client, a color concept was first created on the basis of color samples, which had the desired fresh and inviting effect.
Evocryl 200 was chosen for the facade. The coating is very dirt-resistant and highly weather-resistant, but also ensures that the wall remains breathable. Lignodur SolvoGuard 885, 2K-EP Varioprimer 865 and 2K-Aqua Silk Matt Enamel 2388 were also used for the new look outdoor spaces. The client wanted the slight natural grain of the numerous wooden components and surfaces to stay visible, which was achieved perfectly with the Lignodur SolvoGuard wood coating. The Protect version of the paint was also used, which makes the wood weather-resistant and provides optimum protection against algae and fungal infestation.
Patrick Kohla and his team used Briplast Joint and Wall Filler 1875, Briplast Planofill 1875 and Profisil 1906 for the filling and painting work in the completely renovated restaurant area. After the reopening of the Gasthaus am See, success came quickly: "Business in the new restaurant is booming, there's no other way to put it," reports Kohla.
