In June 2013, the historic Herrenkrug Parkhotel in Magdeburg was engulfed in the Elbe floods. The masses of water destroyed the hotel hall, restaurant, offices and the entire building technology. The significant structural damage forced the hotel manager to carry out extensive renovations on the building. It had to be drained, gutted in places and dried out. The electric cables also had to be removed and installed again. The whole of the cellar and first floor were under water. The damage was so great that the hotel had to undergo a complete renovation. The hotel director insisted that the different areas had to be given a high-quality design. The design concept was developed by the Brillux color studio in Braunschweig. Using sample boards and materials, the developer was presented with a variety of creative suggestions. He ultimately chose the wrapping and stamping technique with damask effect, executed with the effect paint Brillux Creativ Lucento 83, which gives the wall a special metallic shine. The biggest challenge on this construction site was the tight schedule. High-quality painting techniques were applied over large surfaces in just a short time. The painting work began in November 2013, and the reopening was planned for the start of March 2014.
