Building envelopes are exposed to many weather influences – they protect the building from snow, hail, rain and also solar radiation. When designed in bold colors, the requirements for the facade paint increase. Malerbetrieb Fill GmbH accepted this challenge: using Brillux products, they gave the Hofer car dealership a matt black building envelope that has retained its intensity to this day.
When choosing products to work with, the focus was on durability. The old, also matt black design had faded irregularly due to environmental influences and Auto Hofer wanted a resistant coating based on this model.
Together with his long-standing partner Brillux, painter Thomas Fill quickly came to the conclusion that Evocryl 200 was the right choice for this project. “This shade can only be achieved with an organically tinted product. Evocryl offers the highest quality and very high color stability,” he says.
To convince his client of the product, Fill mounted a two-square-meter sample on the roof terrace of the car dealership. After six months, it was still uniformly deep black – and thanks to the use of Evocryl in Protect quality, it had long-lasting protection against the risk of algae and fungal infestation.
After cleaning the facade, the painting team coated the entire surface with Adhesion Primer 3720 before filling any surface damages and cracks with Briplast Durafilll 1539 and priming again. They then applied Evocryl in the matt color RAL 9005 deep black. Several painters worked hand in hand using the wet-on-wet roller technique to create a flawless facade finish.
The Evocryl top coat was the right choice, not least because of the integrated TSR formula. Only then was it technically possible to achieve a dark shade – because it prevents the external thermal insulation composite system from heating up on sunny days.
