Thanks to KlimAir, mold infestations are a thing of the past
Some attempts to stop mold long-term had already failed. So a non-profit Viennese student residence operator chose to use a preventive system for the renovation of one of its residencies. After a one-year test phase, KRONE Malerbetrieb equipped all bathrooms of the 170 lodgings with KlimAir from Brillux.
After the painting company had professionally removed mold from the affected areas, they installed KlimAir Isolating Strips 1867 on all adjacent walls. The painters applied KlimAir Adhesive Plaster 1868 to the wall and ceiling surfaces. A thin layer of Adhesive Plaster is added to the KlimAir Panels 1866, before it is pressed into the adhesive bedding. The edges are grouted subsequently.
With a structure of just 10 millimeters, the panels are already comparatively thin. To still create a seamless joint to the available tiles, the KlimAir Wedges 1866 were used, which run down to just 5 millimeters of thickness. The painters then leveled out the entire area with KlimAir Adhesive Plaster 1868 the following day. After an intermediate sanding, silicate paints, all interior decor renders and Klimasil 1908 can be used as a top coat. For purely pragmatic reasons, white was chosen for the silicate paint Profisil 1906.
Thanks to the KlimAir system, the bathrooms in the student residence now have a real barrier to humidity. The high sorption capability of the entire system build-up make it possible. Thanks to the high water-vapor-permeability and capillary conductivity, the system collects up to one liter of condensation per cubic meter during humidity peaks, thereby ensuring effective drying.
Aside from its ease of application, Yüksel Alkac, managing director of KRONE Malerbetrieb appreciates the quality of KlimAir. The system deprives mold of fertile ground and facilitates a visually harmonic result. It works permanently and does not suffer from wear and tear. “I recommend KlimAir whenever my clients have mold infestations in residential rooms.”
