Glazing techniques

Unlike opaque coatings, glazes have a more intense effect on the appearance of a surface, even though they are semi-transparent coatings. The original character is retained, the hue is refreshed and the depth of a texture is greatly enhanced. While material accumulation in pores or cavities will result in partial color intensification, raised areas or peaks will remain virtually unchanged in color. In addition to white substrates, beautiful glaze effects can also be achieved on colored substrates. The intensity of the glaze effect is determined by the color contrast between the base coat and the glaze.

In interior design, semi-transparent glazes have a more subtle effect than opaque coatings. However, they can be used to create beautiful glaze effects on both white and colored surfaces. The special lightness that this conveys enjoys lasting popularity.

The creative glazing techniques color chart contains 64 shades, all of which are available through the Brillux Color System.
